It's Great to Be 8!

This little Cutie turned eight!

We had a birthday party for Samantha at Dad's work (the fire station) complete with balloons, presents, brownie sundaes, and a game of hide and go seek! She even got a pony for her birthday! (well... A pony for her doll, Molly)

I am so grateful that I have this cute little sister in my life. She is the sweetest girl and is always so excited to see me and Alex when we come home. It is so fun to watch her grow up, it seems like it was just yesterday that I came home from school to a four-year old covered in my makeup (not just her face... her whole body covered in makeup! and she likes the expensive stuff! haha)

We love you Sam!

Happy Birthday!

So I guess we're "blogging" now...

So here we are . . .blogging. . . finally! I have been wanting to start a blog for awhile now, but Alex has always said that it was so cliche for a newly married couple to have a blog. But I TOTALLY understand why everyone else does it and I think he finally agrees! I think of this more as a digital journal (because we all know how hard it is to write in a journal everyday. . .) I just want somewhere to document our lives and what's going on; the good times and the great times.

Nothing says, "We Blog!" more than a selfie

So hopefully those of you that are far from us can feel close to us and those of you that are close to us can enjoy getting to know us just a little bit better. We love you guys!

xoxo- Shaylise

5. 14. 13

Well, I can't think of a better 'official' first post, than to post about the BEST day ever...

O U R  W E D D I N G

May 14, 2013, was the greatest day of our lives. I still can't believe that I am married to my best friend and even better, sealed for time and all eternity to him! We had such a lovely day with perfect weather, fabulous friends & family, and delicious food! (I have a feeling that this post is going to be a picture OVERLOAD... because it's so hard to pick favorites!)

Our day started off at the Bountiful, Utah Temple where we were sealed for time and all eternity. That was by far, the most amazing experience I have ever had.

And then of course, we had lots and lots of pictures on the temple steps. We had so many people come to support us. We are so grateful to everyone that came to be with us. (It was about 90 degrees outside that day and no one complained about being in the hot sun to take photos! I felt so bad, especially for all of the guys in their black suits!)But we got some great pictures, here are a few of my favorites:

Annnd some pics of the fam, complete with toothless Sam and picture frame Drew!

Then we went up to Snowbasin for a delicious luncheon. But we don't have any pictures of that. . . So here a few of my favorites of Alex and I at the temple..

And then it was time for the party to begin! Our reception was also held up at Snowbasin Resort. It was such a fun night full of dancing, eating, laughing, and catching up with good friends!

And of course some of our great friends at our reception, Ryan & Shayle and Chris & Ashley!

Here's just a few more of our wedding party. They were awesome! They helped us set up everything for the luncheon and the reception. We have the best friends in the world! And not to mention they all looked so dashing all day!

The whole night was so much fun! The night ended with the cutting of the cake, throwing of the bouquet & garter, and dancing. Lots of dancing!

Things got a little intense when it was the boy's turn. . .

Alex and I shared our first dance as a married couple to "Forever" by Ben Harper click here to give it a listen

And my Dad and I danced to one of our favorite artists, Huey Lewis. "You Mean the World to Me"

And then we LET THE DANCING BEGIN...

Our bridesmaids and groomsmen were so cute, and they made up a dance just for us! I have to admit, they have some pretty great moves!

We had such a great day and I know it wouldn't have been possible without the help of our loved ones and friends! Nothing is better than being with those that you love the most!  We are so grateful to have great people in our lives who have helped us get where we are today. . . And if I can just get touchy-feely for one second, I want to say on a more personal note, that I feel so incredibly blessed everyday for my sweet husband and all of the great family that supports us. We love you!
